Hatrick Hero – Wayne Rooney – El Blanco Pele

Wayne Rooney is England footballs brightest prospect. It’s been a while since the country has had someone as talented as him, let alone so talented at such a young age. It is for this reason that he is constantly in the limelight, with every performance picked apart.

On returning to the Premiership after a troublesome World Cup and pre-season, he opened up his scoring with two on the first day against Fulham. Since then however, he hadn’t scored, and the press caught on. Every day there was someone else commenting on Rooney’s form, from team mates, to coaching staff, to old pro’s, saying they had every confidence he was going to get back on his game soon enough. Was this ever a doubt? Did people actually think that somehow he’d lost his ability to play amazing football because he had gone ten games without a goal?

Rooney turned twenty one on Tuesday, and today Manchester United travlled to the Reebok a stadium, where Bolton had not conceded all season. There was talk of Rooney “coming of age” all week, and today he really showed his critics that he was back to his best. He opened the scoring on ten minutes, and doubled the lead to two after sixteen minutes. The day couldn’t be complete without him getting a third though, and he wrapped up his hatrick one minute before time.

Form is temporary, class is permanent. Welcome back Wayne!
