Poor ickle Steven Gerrard

In the lead up to Liverpool’s game against Charlton, the Liverpool skipper has condemned Charlton’s new boss, Les Reed.

Gerrard believes upon being picked to play for England in Euro 2000, he should have been shown more sympathy from Reed, as he was homesick.

Granted, most players would be overjoyed to get chosen to represent their country, whereas Gerrard struggled with boarding a plane and being so far away from home.

“I felt they could have shown me more sympathy. They were always pushing me, telling me to buck up my ideas. They didn’t seem to understand that not everyone can board a plane, settle in a strange hotel far from the family they love and find it easy. My homesickness worsened whenever I was forced to be in their company.”

Gerrard claimed since then, he has had no respect for the manager. However, Reed has a contrasting point of view, saying “I’ve got his framed Euro 2000 shirt hanging on my wall saying ‘best wishes Steven Gerrard’.”

If you’re gonna try having a pop at one of Englands greatest ever players make sure you don’t get your Euro’s and WC’s mixed up ,Ste was but a boy during Euro 2000 and that’s the point he was making.

    Thanks

What is the point of this article? Does the writer of this article consider himself a journalist? The amount of innaccuracies in such a short article is simply staggering. The only word I can use to describe such pap is embarrassing.

get your facts right, he hasn’t had a pop… he wrote the comment in his book months ago. Before reed was appointed manager. you’ve simply copied this story from another site quoting his book. Old News

Lol :D You gotta love Liverpool fans. Amusing that so many people can see the article was written by “Scott the RED” yet still think I’m a Chelsea fan.

Gerrard was 21 in the Euros. Sorry, that’s bit too old to be asking for sympathy for being a couple of hours away from home in Germany. Surprised that so called “hard man” Gerrard would be so open about being a pansy needing someone to hold his hand at 21.

‘couple of hours away from home in Germany’

Euro 2000 was in Holland and Belgium…not Germany…England were based in Spa in Belgium. Semantics I know but can’t you not get any facts straight?
