A clause in Frank Lampard’s contract has just seen the Chelsea star awarded with a huge pay increase. Speculation surrounding his future has been rife after spending just almost a year re-negotiating a new contract with the club.
However, his agent today has strangely announced that it is this increased pay which will keep him at the club for the next two seasons.
“If Frank wanted to get away from Chelsea he could have easily done it by now – but of course he hasn’t,” his agent Steve Kutner said.
“He is very happy with his current contract and very relaxed in the on-going talks about a new long-term deal.
“As part of his existing contract he has just received a sizeable escalation in his salary – and that will be repeated on 1st July next year to keep him there, even if a new deal has still to be agreed.”
